Pet Loss Bereavement Studies

The following researchers are seeking your help and input for their studies on how people cope with pet loss bereavement. Please note that these studies are not affiliated in any way with The Pet Loss Support Page or its content.

Pet Loss Study - Dangers of Vehicles
Until now, there has been no data collection system for pet injuries or deaths involving vehicles. In order to protect pets from preventable vehicle dangers, we must first understand how they are being harmed. Every tragedy that we document brings us closer to preventing tragedies and saving animals lives. Below is a list of the type of incidents that we are seeking to document;
  • Hit by a vehicle
  • Traffic accidents
  • Heatstroke
  • Fall from vehicles
  • Power window strangulation or amputation
  • Vehicle accidentally knocked into gear by pet
  • Car stolen with pet inside
  • Kidnapped from vehicle
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a vehicle
  • Drowning (inside a vehicle)
  • Seat belt strangulation
  • Trunk entrapment
  • Other vehicle-related injuries or deaths
